Zeshan Khawaja (born on 13 March) in Tooting, South London, is a businessman, humanitarian and philanthropist. He is the only child to a working class Muslim family of Pakistani immigrants.
As a child, Zeshan’s upbringing was divided between London, Lahore and Philadelphia. He admits that his unconventional childhood unconsciously fueled his uncontrollable desire for travelling and adventure as an adult and is a key factor even today for never being able to stay in one place for too long.
In his spare time, Zeshan is an avid learner of different languages and a keen reader on many of the World’s different cultures and religions. Zeshan is fluent in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi & Spanish, whilst holding basic profficiency in French and Arabic.
Zeshan is extremely proud of his British Pakistani heritage. For many years Zeshan has been working closely with a number of Anglo Pakistani agencies advocating for better business & economic ties between the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
Zeshan is the founder of the Fluqe Group, as a young entrepreneur Zeshan quickly realised he had a great flair for drawing peoples attention. This flair would later prove to be an invaluable gift.
As a result in 2001, at the age of twenty Zeshan co-founded Flukemart.com as an online retail product exchanging website. A year later in 2002, Zeshan sold Flukemart.com to pursue other ambitions within the media industry.
In 2008, Zeshan founded King Khawaja Ltd and established King Khawaja Models as an online model & actors management agency. It was one of the first agencies of its kind to promote Asian talent to mainstream media.
Later that year in recognition to his work as an entrepreneur in the field of media and entertainment, Zeshan was awarded “an honor limited to individuals who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in their industry and occupation” by Cambridge who’s who.
The King Khawaja brand has since expanded from being just a small entertainment company, into retail & fashion, import & export and leisure & hospitality spreading across UK, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Today, the Fluqe Group supports the Khawaja family and the growth of the King Khawaja brand by developing and nurturing values instilled in our Fluqe business ventures.
In 2015, Zeshan became active in politics after joining the Labour Party and became Tooting Labour Party’s (BAME) Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic Officer, a role which Zeshan still holds till date. He was also elected local Ward Organiser in Tooting and in the same year elected to Vice Chair of Fundraising for the Party.
In the run up to Sadiq Khan’s re-election campaign in Tooting in 2015, Zeshan played an important role as a political activist. Later that year when Sadiq Khan publicly announced his intentions to run for Mayor of London, Sadiq asked Zeshan to become part of his campaign. As part of the core registration team, Zeshan headed the community outreach programme responsible for stakeholder’s engagements and delivery of the campaign message across London.
After the successful victory of Sadiq Khan in May 2016 as London’s new Labour Mayor, Zeshan was asked to join the campaign for Dr Rosena Allin-Khan as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate in Tooting. With indepth local knowledge and understanding of the local community Zeshan acted as local business & cultures advisor for friend and colleague Rosena, ensuring local business owners and traders were engaged with local election updates.
in 2019, Zeshan launched Fluqe Xpress with the support of leading political figures and experts managing campaigns for Labour’s Parliamentary candidates.
Zeshan, for many years has been involved in humanitarian causes as a political and human rights activist. Zeshan actively campaigns on behalf of many non-profit & charitable organisations advocating for the end of global child poverty, violence against women, child exploitation and equal rights & safety of passage for internationally displaced refugees.
Zeshan also has a keen interest in foreign affairs, national politics and the effects of economic globalisation on climate change.
Zeshan regularly participates in many television, radio and online debates and most recently has been campaigning with various charitable organisations for the protection of human rights, freedom of speech and the preservation and safety of women and children’s health and education in Pakistan.
Zeshan has always had ambitions of acting in films, and even did a few British & Bollywood movies and music videos in his time (though he’d never admit it!).
Zeshan has done a number of TV documentaries, most notably, Zeshan was seen in a specially BBC commissioned TV documentary commemorating Pakistan’s 70th anniversary, to be aired on TV in August 14th 2017 as part of Pakistan’s Independence day celebrations. Zeshan will be talking about growing up in his home town of Tooting in South West London and how much it’s changed over the years. Celebrating the multicultural and ethnic diversity of Tooting, and also taking the anchor around Tooting High Street to taste the delights of traditional asian street food, exploring Tooting’s finest Pakistani restaurant’s and delving into it’s finest Pakistani mouth watering sweets and deserts.
Zeshan has also been a familiar face on Asian broadcasted news channels like GEO TV & Duniya TV talking candidly about Politics and Human Rights issues.
